Background
I have been a Camillus resident since 1988 along with my Lisa. Together we have raised 3 children, Matthew, Justin and Dana, all of whom are out on their own. We're also proud grandparents of Adam (6), Benjamin (4) and Chloe (just turned 1).
I am constantly aware that this is a multi-million dollar business and I take the responsibility of representing you very seriously. You have given me your support in the past and I ask for your support again to continue with the true vision your Town Board has given you.
Camillus, a great place to live and raise a family!
Dear Neighbors...
I want to thank you for the privilege of being your 5th Ward Councilor, serving my first term since being elected in 2007. You gave me your vote in the 2007 general election, and I sincerely ask for your support in the up and coming general election Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009.
On the November ballot you will notice I have been endorsed by the Independence and Conservative Parties, Row C and Row D. Running as the incumbent allows me to use my experience to get your issues resolved as well as continuing a working relationship with you and your families.
Recently some misinformation has been circulated about my service and that of the Town Board. I do not subscribe to negative campaigns; however I believe that you, the voter, deserve factual responses.
Tax Facts...
Please review your tax bills and compare the tax rate from last year to this year. There were no increases in taxes or assessed value for 2009 and I will not support any tax increases for 2010.
Total tax rate including Town General, Highway and Water:
2008 - $7.3427 per thousand
2009 - $7.3402 per thousand
...A net tax rate decrease for 2009!
I will not support any increase in taxes!
Streetscape Facts...
I am sure you have noticed the sidewalks and lighting projects. These Streetscape funds were furnished by Community Development grants along with federal and state grants. Our Highway Department did the work, which allowed us to accomplish more without paying the costs of prevailing wages which would have been required had we gone out to bid; another additional savings for the taxpayer! I believe this is, and will continue to be, an asset to our community.
Fire Department Facts...
I was the head of a committee instrumental in improving the working relationship of the Fairmount and Camillus Fire Departments. I am pleased to report that both fire departments are training together and have a restored confidence in each other. The mutual aid system has also been restored. Both fire departments and their officials should be commended for their efforts in this process.
Track Record Facts...
The following are just a few of the issues and programs I have worked on diligently to improve the Town of Camillus and the lives of our residents and business owners:
1. Secured a new health insurance plan for employees that will save the taxpayers more than $250,000.00 annually.
2. Implemented shared services with the town of Van Buren for the Animal Control Officer and we are near completion of shared services for the Assessor with the town of Elbridge. This was accomplished without additional personnel and the revenues from these two towns will offset expenses for Camillus and save taxpayers money.
3. As Parks & Recreation Committee Chair, I have worked tirelessly to keep the Camillus Park Pool open and with the taxpayers input, hope to initiate plans to make it an even more enjoyable place in the future.
4. I have worked to get more street paving in the 5th ward in the past two years and continue to monitor our roads to prioritize based on condition and the funding available.
5. I will always respond to your calls and either complete the task you request, or tell you why it cannot be accomplished. This includes alerting the codes enforcement officer, highway supervisor and other department heads, to address all issues you bring to my attention.
